The essential idea behind IaC is to model infrastructure as if it were code.

The talk focusses on two important requirements for IaC to be truly successful

  • Idempotence
  • Convergence

This is a architecture centric talk which uses models from Abstract Algebra to highlight the patterns and core aspects. We will also discuss some of the Computer Science research done in this area.

Existing open source products in the DevOps space are treated as reifications of the concept but are not centric to the talk.

Intended audience
Software developers, System Administrators, CS Researchers and students of Mathematics.
