Using Raspberry Pi to make your TV super smart

A walk through of how I managed to put a home entertainment system using Raspberry Pi and controlled all actions on it using my Android phone.
I used the following tools to achieve this

1. Raspberry Pi 2
2. Android phone
3. AnyRemote
4. PC Remote
5. VLC
6. FTP

Total cost of the system was Rs. 4800. I dont know if there is any other means to make your TV smart
