Contents of Session :

The session will deal with basics of WebRTC and why is it important over other proprietary VOIP clients like google hangouts , skype , team-viewer , Facebook and watsapp calling . It will talk about building your own VOIP application from scratch . It will also talk about the potentials of WebRTC .

What is WebRTC ?

WebRTC (web, real-time communications) is – a browser-based, application programming interface (API) – leveraging JavaScript & HTML5, it enables developers to build apps capable of delivering – simultaneous voice/video/data sharing capability – using a browser with no plug-ins for peer-to – peer communications.

The force behind WebRTC is IETF , w3c, HTML5 , Google , GSMA etc

Signalling Platforms

Since WebRTC is only a media stack , it is upto us to integrate it with any signalling protocol of our choice . In this session I shall quickly discuss , with my experience , the ways of using Socketio and SIP ( Session Initiation Protocol )

WebRTC Infrastructure ( with SIP as signalling protocol )

simple p2p web based WebRTC Infrastructure ( using websocket as signalling mechanism )

Session difficulty level: Intro/101
