We love toasting the achievements of Indians around the world.  But what about closer home ? Do we  acknowledge meaningful achievements, and reward them in a timely manner ? Is there a link between our awards and our (lack of) achievements…

In this discussion, we will look at the highest of the awards that our nation bestows, the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan, and see what we can learn. While we’ll touch a bit on history and politics, but note this is not a political discussion!

For good measure we will see how our nation fares in terms of giving awards, when compared to other countries around the world. We will look at what we celebrate and what we don’t, and see if there are “best practices” from other places that we could adopt. We will compare notes and see if we can see similar patterns in the private sector… Bring your thinking hat and ideas along !

Towards the end, we will collectively try to find deserving people who must be recognized for their  achievements. Better early than later.
