













Bhasha: A Study of Language Policies from Multilingual Societies Around the World

Languages are more than just a means of communication – to quote Henry Lau, “Each language is a different lens through which you view the world.” I believe that language forms a core part of our identity, who we are, and our sense of self. It is thus crucial, in my view, to understand the approaches to language-related policies adopted by governments and how they might offer lessons on building a thriving and diverse multilingual society.
This session will explore the various approaches adopted by major multilingual countries around the world, and unpacking the historical context behind these choices.
