Barcamp Bangalore 2025 🔥 is almost here… it’s happening on March 8th at Church Street ! The venue is above a well known landmark: Church Street Social. Old timers, do note that that is opposite the Empire Hotel.
This is the first time Barcamp is happening over a bar (literally!), yet Barcamp remains what it has always been – we place NO bar (i.e. restrictions) on the topics that you may discuss with fellow participants. Past Barcamps have discussed many topics under the sun (here is a sampling of what was discussed at previous barcamps). All is good, so long as the topics you come up with doesn’t land anybody behind bars (pun intended, of the trouble type!).
Barcamp is an un-conference. The content is driven by attendees and not curated by any committee. If you want to talk about something, we strongly suggest that you propose a session by visiting this link, now! (requires login) Session proposals may be as short or as elaborate as you wish. It should take no more than a few minutes! (don’t leave this for later. If you think it will take more time, do remember that this is an un-conference. You don’t have to think about getting a thumbs up from any review committee.)
The list of sessions proposed till now is here. You are encouraged to have a look at the sessions, and mark any and all that pique your interest by clicking “I am interested!” (requires login). As you can see, by proposing a session, you ensure more eyeballs for your ideas!
If you plan to come and haven’t RSVPed already, then please take the time to do so now!

In this edition, we’ll have 4 sessions running in parallel across two floors of the same building – the second floor (warm interiors of Takshashila Institution) and the fourth floor (open spaces of Samagata Foundation). Each space has a different vibe to it, something to keep in mind when you look to schedule your session (more about how you can do that in a bit):
- Second Floor, Main Space – warm and welcoming space for 40 people. Projector to share your presentations.
- Second Floor, Conference Room – sessions over a rectangular shaped table. Good for 20-ish people. Large TV for presentations.
- Fourth Floor, Main Space – open collaborative space for 50 people. Projector to share your presentations.
- Fourth Floor, Conference Room – lively discussions across the table for 12-15ish people. Great for crafty presentations, show and tell for small groups, and anything else.
Did you propose a session in advance already? Great, and thank you! Next we need your help to find a good slot for it on the schedule. And for that, may we request you turn up early ? On the second floor, at 8:30 AM, we will have our famous Wiki Board ready. This is essentially a board with empty session slots for each of the 4 spaces. Grab a Post It, fill in your session title and name and stick it on your preferred slot. And your talk is scheduled! You are welcome to propose a session on the spot as well – just claim your slot before the Wiki Board fills up. Restating the obvious – first come, first served.
We’ll start the day at 9 AM on the second floor, with an intro session. That will be followed by a great day of discussions. We wrap up at 6. Be sure to stay back to tell us how the day went !
Getting to the Venue
Note that there is no parking at the venue. The diagonally opposite building has paid parking.
We highly recommend you take the Metro to get to the venue. You may alight at MG Road station and take a stroll past the morning photoshoots in Church Street. For a slightly longer yet pleasant walk, get down at Cubbon Park metro station and walk down towards MG Road and Church Street.
House Rules
We are grateful to venue sponsors – Takshashila Institution and Samagata Foundation. These are on the second and fourth floor respectively. You may take the stairs or the lift.
Takshashila Institution is a well known public policy think tank, and they are gracefully facilitating this event at their office, which is full of books. We request all attendees to be considerate of the place, and avoid taking out books from the shelves. The books in the reception area may be used and returned to their locations promptly. No food or drinks may be consumed inside, as it’s a wooden floor. Please note that the cabins and sound studio on this floor are off-limits.
Samagata Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports projects and ideas – even the little ones – that bring value to society. It’s a welcoming open space. Please help keep it clean. Feel free to huddle around in the outside area or on the welcoming sofa.
We highly recommend you get your own water bottles. These may be refilled at the venue. Please dispose of trash only in designated places. If you see any bins close to full, kindly inform volunteers.
Finally, lovely as the venues are, we can’t control the acoustics in the venue, so we request your cooperation on that account. At all times, please ensure your activities don’t disrupt any running sessions.
